Oh how I love stories that actually say something and have a point!
Also, Taylor has this way of writing that skips from the tips (the points that are felt most precisely) of one emotion to another and with great clarity and passion without ever falling into sentimentality. Still it can all be
felt. There's nothing foreign or intellectual about how the people act (in contrast to the "literary" short story of today where everyone seems to have fallen out of a mumblecore film all full up on quaaludes).
